When Taproot was founded in 2001, we knew our mission to drive social change through pro bono service didn’t have to start from scratch. The legal profession in particular served as an example of the potential that can be realized when you engrain an ethic of service into an industry and build programs and resources so nonprofits can leverage it. But outside of the legal profession, that type of access to pro bono services for the nonprofit sector was still rare.

Providing Education, Tools and Services to Help Protect Foster Youth

Young people in foster care face a range of unique risks when it comes to identity theft protection and cyber security risks due in part to the abundance of people with access to their personal information. LifeLock/Symantec has a history of supporting foster youth and this year we expanded ourinvolvement and increased our commitment to protecting this vulnerable population. In March, we launched the Fostering a Secure Tomorrow (FAST) initiative, in Washington DC in an effort to educate politicians and policymakers on the importance of keeping foster youth safe online.

Guardians of the Coast: 5,700 Students Involved and 2,610 Km of Coastline Adopted Thanks to the Costa Crociere Foundation Project

Results presented from the first year of operation of Guardians of the Coast, one of the biggest citizen science projects in Italy, promoted by the Costa Crociere Foundation. The initiative actively involved 156 secondary schools , over 600 teachers and 5,700 students during the 2017-2018 academic year. Each school "adopted" a section of the Italian coast, covering a total of 2,610 km , equal to one third of the country's natural coastline.

Procter & Gamble Brings Relief to Residents Affected by Hurricane Michael with P&G Product Kits and Tide Loads of Hope Laundry Services

The Tide Loads of Hope Mobile Laundry Unit has deployed to support relief and recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Michael. The Tide Loads of Hope mobile laundry vehicles will begin services in Callaway, Florida on Tuesday, October 16 providing free full-service laundry to residents affected by the recent hurricane. Residents can bring clothes (up to two loads per household) to be washed, dried and folded free of charge. All washable clothing types can be accepted with the exception of heavy bedding.

Tyson Foods Expands OneEgg Partnership to Nepal, Honduras and Ethiopia

One million children under 5 years of age in Nepal (or 36 percent of the population) suffer chronic malnutrition and 10 percent suffer from acute malnutrition. The difficulty in acquiring protein is a contributing factor to the nutrition gap in the south Asian country. In an effort to help combat those issues in Nepal, as well as Honduras and Ethiopia, Tyson Foods, Inc. announced today a series of grants to OneEgg, a non-profit organization that delivers eggs to children in need.
