American Express Announces $500,000 Commitment to Strive for College and UStrive Inc.

American Express announced today that the company will join forces with Strive for College and UStrive Inc. to increase college access for students across the United States. Strive for College is a national nonprofit that provides students with mentoring through the college admissions and financial aid application process through the UStrive virtual mentoring platform. American Express has committed $500,000 to the initiative, and plans to engage hundreds of American Express professionals as mentors to the underserved youth Strive for College serves.

Morgan Stanley Foundation Announces Additional $1.5 Million in Grants to Local Food Banks Across the United States

Morgan Stanley Foundation today announced over $1,500,000 in grants to local food banks in 29 cities across 20 states to support hunger-relief programs that deliver food assistance and healthy meals to children and families. These grants are part of our most recent commitment, bringing our support total to more than $23 million to 200 Feeding America member food banks to help launch, build upon and sustain critical child nutrition programs through child hunger grants and expand access to fresh produce through produce grants. Charitable Giving Changing As Younger Donors Give and Demand More From the Third Sector

A new Barclays Corporate Banking survey of over 2,000 UK consumers shows younger people report giving more money to charities than the over 55s, challenging widely-held views that the older generation support good causes the most. People aged 35 to 54 say they gave an average of £265 last year to charities, followed by £246 from under-35s. Over 55s gave £168 in comparison.
