Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW) today announced that Senior Applications Engineer Noel Marshall was named a Women Worth Watching® in STEM by the Profiles in Diversity Journal®. Marshall was recognized for her technical contributions as lead engineer on Arrow’s award-winning Semi-Autonomous Motorcar (SAM Car) project, which utilizes off-the-shelf technology to enable quadriplegic former racecar driver Sam Schmidt to operate a vehicle using only his breath and head motions.
At a ceremony in Los Angeles on February 22, the organization Humanitas announced the recipients of its 42nd Annual Humanitas Prize, recognizing the screenwriters behind two films and one television series from 21st Century Fox. Theodore Melfi and Allison Schroeder, who wrote Fox 2000’s Hidden Figures, tied with Robert Schenkkan of Hacksaw Ridge to win the Feature Film category, while Nate Parker and Dan Fogelman were honored for writing Fox Searchlight’s The Birth of a Nation and the 20th Century Fox Television production This Is Us, respectively. The Humanitas Prize celebrates onscreen stories that reflect a dedication to social progress and inspire compassion, hope and understanding.
Moin Ahmed, from Bangladesh, has been named as the winner of CBRE Group, Inc.’s Urban Photographer of the Year competition. Mr. Ahmed’s image, “The Man’s Stare,” captures the entrancing visage of a train rider during a rainy day in Dhaka, Bangladesh. With more than 29,000 entries from 111 countries, the competition’s 10th year was its largest.
