Lockheed Martin has been selected for a Department of Energy contract to improve energy and water efficiency at federal facilities. Under the contract, Lockheed Martin is one of 21 companies selected to implement Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) designed to create federal infrastructure improvements and energy savings.

I’ve received many questions over the past few months about Ingersoll Rand’s commitment to reducing energy demand and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Those questions intensified this week with news of the United States’ withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on climate change.

We are disappointed by the decision of the United States to leave the Paris Agreement, a historic global accord to combat climate change and protect our planet for future generations. Despite this setback, there is also cause for optimism. The Paris Agreement has activated an unstoppable momentum for climate action, with an essential role spelled out for responsible business.

In 2016, we strengthened our existing process for assessing materiality by canvassing a broader range of internal and external stakeholders and extending sustainability issues across the whole value chain.

Consumers Energy announced that it has started a new solar energy pilot program, giving Michigan residents another option to help build a clean future for our state. Consumers Energy’s new Solar Distributed Generation (DG) Pilot program allows customers to put solar panels on the rooftops of their homes, working with industry-leading solar provider SunPower to offer Michigan customers a full-service home solar solution.

Black & Veatch has been selected to provide program management services to Denver Water on the Gross Reservoir Expansion Project.

The project is a major component of the utility’s comprehensive strategy to deliver safe, reliable water service and provide resilience to its system in the face of future threats including floods, wildfires and the potential impacts of climate change. The expansion will more than double current reservoir capacity and improve water supply dependability for the 1.4 million people Denver Water serves in the metro area.

A new contract with energy company Vattenfall will enable AkzoNobel to ramp up the supply of renewable electricity to its facilities in Sweden and Finland.

Since the plant went into operation in 2012, Daimler covered 40,000 m2 with vegetation and planted 16,000 trees. In this way, the company aims to preserve habitats for plants and animals.

Consumers Energy is making good on its commitment to a clean Michigan future by working with large businesses -- including the new Switch Pyramid data center in West Michigan -- that want to be powered 100 percent by renewable energy.
