This week is National Inclusion Week, it is a chance to reflect on what inclusion really means, celebrate inclusion, and commit to building a more inclusive culture.
Recognizing the benefits of a diverse workforce, Norfolk Southern has established employee Diversity and Inclusion Councils in each of its 10 operating divisions. These grassroots councils promote a respectful workplace, contribute to business goals, and maximize employee potential. By the end of 2015, more than 200 employees were serving on the councils.
As a part of its series of volunteer events across its network, CSX hosted a day of service at Mt. Herman Exceptional Student Center, part of Duval County Public Schools, in Jacksonville, Fla. on Saturday, November 5. CSX employees gathered with school leaders and teachers, along with the company’s national service partners City Year and Action for Healthy Kids, to complete projects to make the school cleaner and greener, and encourage physical activity among students.
