It has been quite a year for those of us immersed in the corporate responsibility world, especially when we’ve witnessed how many companies have stepped up their activism during 2018. We’ve seen CEOs increasingly speak out on diversity and inclusion, companies oppose the separation of families at the U.S. border with Mexico and watched corporate leaders double down on volatile issues like gun violence.
Forbes Mexico recently ranked the top 30 companies setting the example for environmental sustainability. The report, “Green companies, climate change: five degrees from the disaster ", ranked Bacardi, the only spirits company to make the list, as number 24. The annual ranking is determined through a Sustainability and Transparency Index by which Forbes qualifies the transparency and availability of information related to the measurements and results of companies in terms of environmental care and reduction of CO2 emissions.

A lot happened in 2018. The U.S. made some notable progress with the first Muslim and Native American women elected to Congress, and SpaceX, the world’s most powerful rocket, launched. (I also became a first-time dad! And remember Yanny vs. Laurel?). And we experienced some major lows, with hundreds of innocent lives lost to multiple mass shootings and families torn apart due to the current administration’s troubling immigration policies.
