Mars CEO: Industry Must Fix ‘Broken’ Engine of Global Business to Tackle Urgent Climate & Social Threats
Mars CEO Grant F. Reid today said business needs to lead “transformational change” in order to tackle the most urgent threats facing the planet and its people.

Speaking ahead of this month’s UN General Assembly and Climate Week in New York, Mr. Reid said the responsibility had never been greater for industry: “If we are to help deliver on the targets agreed in Paris and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, there has to be a huge step change. While many companies have been working on being more sustainable, the current level of progress is nowhere near enough.”

Students from the United States Take Top Honor at Prestigious Stockholm Junior Water Prize
Rachel Chang and Ryan Thorpe, both of Manhasset, N.Y., developed a project entitled, “A Novel Approach to Rapidly and Sensitively Detect and Purify Water Contaminated with Shigella, E. Coli, Salmonella and Cholera.” The system created by the students has applications in both developing and developed regions of the world.

HanesBrands Donates More Than 1 Million Items of Underwear and Activewear to Assist Hurricane Harvey Victims
HanesBrands announced today that it is donating more than five trailer loads of underwear and activewear to assist victims of flooding from Hurricane Harvey in Texas and the Gulf Coast. Hanes is partnering with nonprofit charity Delivering Good and North Carolina-based transportation company Glen Raven Logistics to get the more than 1 million items of underwear, socks, intimate apparel, T-shirts and activewear fleece valued at more than $2 million to flooding victims.

FCA US and the FCA Foundation Support Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts
As Texas continues to face unprecedented flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey, FCA US LLC and the FCA Foundation have partnered with disaster relief organizations to support residents and communities affected by the storm. The FCA Foundation, the charitable arm of FCA US, announced a total of $200,000 in grants to three disaster relief organizations that provide resources in communities across the country.
