Volkswagen Group of America Continues its Partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington with a $25,000 Donation

HERNDON, Va., March 18, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Volkswagen Group of America Inc. (VWGoA) recently continued its long-standing partnership with the Fairfax Region of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington (BGCGW), located in Virginia, by donating $25,000 to the organization to help enrich the lives of youth.

The donation will be used to help fund several educational programs as well as signature events for the BGCGW, including the recently-held Casino Night, an annual fundraiser the Fairfax Region hosts in Tysons Corner, Va. Funds raised from Casino Night will be used for programs that serve a diverse group of children across Fairfax County.

“We truly value our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and the opportunity it provides to make a positive difference in the lives of youth in our communities,” said Machelle Williams, General Manager, Diversity and Organizational Development, VWGoA.

VWGoA has been a community partner with the BGCGW for 12 years. Additionally, for the past three years, VWGoA has hosted a Leadership Camp for the BGCGW at its Herndon Headquarters where VWGoA colleagues discuss the functions of the various brands and give the BGCGW students valuable insight into potential professional career paths.

“Through our partnership with VWGoA, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, Fairfax Region, has been empowered to serve more youth than ever before,” said Jim Almond, Regional Vice President, BGCGW Virginia Region.

“Our partnership has also enabled us to provide those youth with the educational and career development opportunities that they may not have otherwise had.”

VWGoA encourages employees nationwide to participate in community service and volunteer efforts through its internal “Get Involved” campaign, which includes special incentives such as paid time off to volunteer and company matching for charitable donations.
