Gaithersburg, Md., December 16, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Quality of Life Services leader, Sodexo,  proudly announced that it received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2014 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

Sodexo’s commitment  to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment, supporting employee development and positively impacting local communities was demonstrated through several efforts including; sponsoring an LGBT employee business resource group, providing equivalent spousal and same-sex partner benefits, providing medical coverage for sex reassignment surgery, recognizing sexual orientation and gender identity or expression in our Equal Employment Opportunity Policy and actively engaging LGBT-certified vendors in our supplier diversity program.  In addition, the company continues to develop its managers to be more inclusive through innovative, award-winning resources like the LGBT Conversation Guide it created in collaboration with PFLAG.

“Sodexo managers and staff continue to champion a more diverse and inclusive workplace, particularly through the volunteer efforts led by employee business resource groups like PRIDE,” stated George Chavel, CEO, Sodexo. “This seventh consecutive recognition for top marks from HRC validates those efforts and the laudable accomplishments as a result.”

The 2014 CEI rated 934 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. Sodexo’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria resulted in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.

Sodexo again joins the ranks of 303 major U.S. businesses which also earned top marks this year. For more information on the 2014 Corporate Equality Index, or to download a free copy of the report, visit www.hrc.org/cei.
