Positive Impact Give Event Professionals the Opportunity to Act on Gender Equality

February 28, 2019 /3BL Media/ — Positive Impact’s Girls Creating Campaign exists to inspire girls to be limitless in the creation of their careers. According to a Unicef gender equality report ‘By the time children reach age 10, boys’ worlds often expand while girls’ worlds contract ’and Positive Impact is passionate about using the example of a female full event industry to address this.

Fiona Pelham, CEO, Positive Impact explains ‘ Every year around International Women’s Day we encourage event professionals to thank and acknowledge their female peers- it’s as simple as writing a few words on our website about how someone inspires or supports you and the Positive Impact team then share that story via social media and raise the volume on the many women are making a difference in the event industry’.


Launching in 2019 are a series of podcasts with female change makers from around the world who talk about the women who inspired them to live their lives as they do. These stories were gathered during interviews in 2018 to mark the occasion of 100 years of women having the right to vote in the U.K. and includes Kristi Casey Sanders, Director of Community at MPI and Annette Gregg, Senior Vice President, at PRA.

On International Women’s Day event professionals can join a webinar, aptly titled, Four inspiring lessons I wish I’d known when I was seven,  which includes speaker Melissa Gorrie, an Ecojustice staff  lawyer and the founder of Waste Free Edmonton, working to significantly reduce the amount of waste created in Edmonton and Lucy Laville, Course Director at Leeds Beckett University who offer students short internships with Positive Impact. 

Fiona Pelham continued ‘This campaign exists to keep the challenges of gender equality front of mind and give people an opportunity to acknowledge the women who have made a difference to them. This year the Positive Impact team are happy to acknowledge the female leaders we have had the opportunity to work with in Edmonton and the Edmonton Convention Centre as they have stepped in to become the first sponsor ever for this campaign. We appreciate their leadership for enabling us to champion this vital initiative.
