October 21, 2013 /3BL Media/ - NPower is celebrating Pro Bono Week by announcing a pilot of a new pro bono resource called Tech Consult.  NPower’s volunteer program, The Community Corps, builds the tech capacity of nonprofits and schools by connecting organizations to skilled volunteers from the tech community.  Tech Consult is a new service that will allow nonprofits and schools nationwide to schedule free consulting calls with technology professionals.   Nonprofits or schools interested in being considered for the pilot should register with The Community Corps by October 23 to receive more information.

In addition, NPower will be joining Taproot Foundation as a participant of Pro Bono Day NYC on October 23rd at the Centre for Social Innovation in New York City.

Lastly, NPower will be highlighting and thanking its 3000 volunteers currently active with The Community Corps for their dedication to service.  Since 2010, they have delivered over 35,000 volunteer hours to nonprofits and schools.  NPower will be highlighting volunteer stories on their blog throughout the week - whether it’s helping a nonprofit with search engine optimization to reach more potential clients or operating a classroom helpdesk so children can get answers about STEM careers.  Follow @NPowerConnects or check out www.npower.org for more information about how NPower drives social good by empowering the tech community to give back, helping nonprofits, schools and individuals reach their potential.

About Pro Bono Service
Pro bono--short for pro bono publico, "for the public good"—refers to professional services delivered without expectation of a fee to organizations serving the social good. It is both a form of support for community organizations as well as an increasingly core part of the ethic of business professionals from design to HR and technology, who believe that high-quality professional services are too important to only be available to those who can afford them.

About Pro Bono Week
Pro Bono Week will also be celebrated around the world by organizations like Ashoka and Net Impact in the U.S., Pro Bono Lab in France, Service Grant in Japan, Huizeren in China, laluz in the Netherlands, and Volunteering New Zealand.
