Sustainable Transportation and Alternative Fuels: Moving People and Goods

Leonardo Academy’s Sustainable Transportation program works to reduce engine emissions, support alternative fuels, and promote the sustainable transportation of people and goods around the world. As part of the program, Leonardo Academy secures grants that support construction of alternative fueling stations by fuel providers. The Sustainable Transportation program is designed to move the transportation industry and employers toward better performance in areas where transportation has the greatest impact: mobility, climate, energy, natural environment, integrated planning, and cost.

Green Infrastructure

DERA Grant Funding Announced by EPA
As a courtesy to our stakeholders, Leonardo Academy is excited to forward an available funding opportunity for Clean Diesel projects though the EPA’s Diesel Emission Reduction Program (DERA). EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality is soliciting proposals nationwide for projects that achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions, particularly from fleets located in areas designated as having poor air quality. The EPA anticipates awarding approximately $11 million in DERA funding to eligible projects​.

Upcoming Funding Opportunities for Clean Transportation and Alternative Fueling Infrastructure
Do you own or operate a vehicle fleet in Ohio, Colorado, or Texas? A number of funding opportunities for reducing emissions and fueling station infrastructure are available in 2016 and 2017. Grant programs include the Ohio Diesel Emission Reduction Grant (DERG) program, the Texas Clean Transportation Triangle (CTT) and Alternative Fueling Facilities Program (AFFP), and the Colorado Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program. Grant opportunities come up periodically in other states as well.

Leonardo Academy Supports Foreman Brother’s, Inc. Clean Diesel Projects
Foreman Brothers, Inc. recently completed the diesel emissions reduction improvements of eight trucks supported by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2015-2016 Region 5 Grant. The grant was facilitated by Leonardo Academy, The Sustainability Experts®, a Wisconsin nonprofit organization and staunch supporter of Clean Diesel improvement projects.

UPS Completes Clean Diesel Projects Supported by EPA Grant Awarded to Leonardo Academy
United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) recently completed the diesel emissions reduction improvements of six trucks supported by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2014-2015 Region 6 Grant. The grant was facilitated by Leonardo Academy, a Wisconsin nonprofit organization that supports Clean Diesel improvement projects, among other sustainability initiatives.
