Encouraging Entrepreneurship in the Dominican Republic
Gildan has launched a new initiative in the Dominican Republic entitled "La Comunidad Emprende" (The Community Startup). Co -funded by the Canadian Embassy and in partnership with the Batey Relief Alliance, the program aims to empower women and young people, providing training, guidance and the encouragement to pursue their own business.

Volunteering in Guatemala With Pencils of Promise
In 2017, American Apparel launched a capsule collection of hoodies, t-shirts and bags in collaboration with Pencils of Promise (POP) to provide support for teachers and fund the construction of new schools in Guatemala, Ghana and Laos, contributing U.S. $220,000. POP is a US-based not-for-profit organization that works to increase access to education and raise global awareness of child illiteracy as there are 250 million children worldwide who lack basic reading, writing and math skills.

Gildan Recognized for Leading CSR Practices by FUNDAHRSE
Gildan was once again a recipient of the Corporate Social Responsibility Seal awarded by the Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility in Honduras (FUNDAHRSE). Gildan, the largest apparel manufacturer in the region, scored 100% in categories such as human rights, labor practices, environment and community engagement, against a manufacturing industry average of 95%.

For the third consecutive year, Gildan has been recognized with a Distintivo ESR® 2018 award presented during the 11th Latin American Conference of Socially Responsible Companies. The award is given to companies that meet designated standards in the strategic areas of corporate social responsibility. Gildan received the distinction this year for its CSR activities in the Dominican Republic.

Gildan Supports the Leonardo Martínez Hospital in Honduras With Donation of Medical Equipment
The Leonardo Martínez Valenzuela Hospital received a donation of medical equipment for its surgery ward from Gildan, which was commemorated on April 6 by the First Lady of Honduras, Ana García de Hernández. The equipment, valued at more than US $520,000, for the new operating rooms at the healthcare center will provide free services to patients in the Northern Region of the country. This new surgical module is expected to perform more than 8,000 surgeries annually.
