The aim of the P7,000 donation of toiletries and sanitary pads by a total of 32 secretaries from the Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa mines was to support young girls in the hostel at Khwee Primary School in the challenges of developing into young women. It was also a demonstration of Debswana’s value of showing its people care.

The Arbor Day Foundation announced today a five-year partnership with Texas Roadhouse as part of its newly launched Hurricane Tree Recovery Campaign. Texas Roadhouse has committed funding towards the tree restoration efforts in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. The initial phase of their $250,000 commitment will focus on planting and distributing trees in affected communities along the gulf coast.

Teamwork: Medtronic Helps Villalba Restore Power

City leaders had planned to use the nearby Toro Negro hydroelectric plant to power the town of Villalba in case Hurricane Maria knocked out the island’s electricity. Built in the 1920’s, the historic plant had once powered the town. But in recent decades it gave way to Puerto Rico’s power grid. It still produced some power, but not for Villalba. But in the aftermath of Maria, when it came time to power up, the plant did not work. Medtronic assisted with critical repairs to bring electricity back.
