This week, Cone headed to the MGM National Harbor in Maryland to participate in this year's COMMIT!Forum – a two day conference focused on the role of the corporate responsibility practitioner as companies aim to make their voices heard. The theme of the conference was "Brands Taking Stands" – certainly apropos given today's business and political environment. As the conference wraps, we're leaving with a renewed energy and commitment to the field but also a few important takeaways.

Because of innovative work we are doing at our Murfreesboro, Tennessee, plant, General Mills was invited to be included in “WASTED! The Story of Food Waste,” a documentary making its debut in theaters and online today.

Since August 2015, our Murfreesboro plant has been processing leftover whey from Yoplait Greek lines to produce 10 percent (1.6 megawatts) of the plant’s electrical needs.

In addition, excess heat from its biogas generator has reduced the plant’s natural gas needs by 10 percent.

AEG’s LA Kings raised more than $175,000 for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) at the team’s annual Golf Tournament at Pacific Palms Resort on October 2.

The golf tournament, which serves as a fundraiser for CHLA, was attended by all of the current LA Kings players, numerous alumni and the team’s hockey operations executives who participated in the 18-hole tournament along with more than 140 donors.

AEG’s LA Galaxy Foundation, in partnership with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), unveiled a brand-new community soccer field in Watts, Los Angeles at 109th Street Recreation Center on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The new turf mini-pitch opened in conjunction with the City of Los Angeles, Department of Recreation and Parks, and LAPD Southeast Division to provide a safe place for the local Watts community to play soccer.

Trianna Sims is rarely speechless, but Thursday wasn’t like most days for her.

Alongside her husband, Dontrell, the Sims were given a ceremonial hammer Thursday morning at the site of their future Benton Township house being built by them and Harbor Habitat of Humanity volunteers.
