The Chevron-operated Wheatstone LNG Plant on the coast of Western Australia is one of the continent’s biggest natural resource projects. It will have the capacity to supply 8.9 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas per year—equal to 5 percent of Asia’s 2017 use—to meet the soaring demand for cleaner energy in the Asia-Pacific market. Wheatstone will also deliver 200 terajoules per day (2.2 billion cubic meters per year) of gas to Western Australian consumers. Bechtel is performing the engineering, procurement, construction, construction management, and commissioning of facilities to process and liquefy the gas, the tanks that store the fuel at -260 Fahrenheit (-162 Celsius), and the export terminal.

Visa Recognized in Top Diversity and Inclusion Indexes

This week, Visa received recognition from two notable organizations, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) and Diversity Best Practices (DBP), a division of Working Mother Media, for the company’s work in championing diversity and inclusion in the workplace. HRC announced that Visa received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality.

Helping Where Help is Needed

When the hours after Hurricane Maria turned to days, Virgen Colon of Juncos, Puerto Rico, grew increasingly frightened. Without power in her flooded house, she needed electricity to operate the air conditioning and fans which kept her son Jan cool. He is 23, born with severe birth defects that have left him bed-bound his entire life. He also needs oxygen and feeding tubes, and the various medical devices that help him breathe and survive required power to operate. Finally, desperate, she called the mayor of Juncos. He solved her problem with one call to Medtronic.

UPS Dramatically Increases Use of Renewable Natural Gas

UPS today announced an agreement with Big Ox Energy to purchase 10 million gallon equivalents of renewable natural gas (RNG) per year. This is the largest investment in RNG to date for the company, and the agreement runs through 2024. In addition to the agreement with Big Ox, UPS signed a five-year agreement earlier this year with AMP energy for 1.5 million gallon equivalents of RNG per year from the Fair Oaks dairy farm in Indiana. The RNG agreements will help UPS reach a key sustainability goal: 40 percent of all ground transportation fleet fuel from sources other than conventional gasoline and diesel by 2025.

Giving Opportunity Through United Way

We recently wrapped up our annual Employee Giving Campaign for United Way, and are excited and honored to share that Comcast NBCUniversal employees collectively pledged nearly $8 million to help improve communities nationwide. Combined with more than $2 million in matching grants from the Comcast Foundation, our company is providing $10 million in total support, and that means hundreds of United Way affiliates that are in our very own communities will continue to thrive and help people who are most in need.
