Corporate Responsibility (CR) Magazine announced today the finalists for both the eighth annual Responsible CEO of the Year Awards and the fifth annual Lifetime Achievement Award. These awards will be presented to CEOs that visibly exceed standards in the areas of employee relations, environmental impact and sustainability, human rights, philanthropy, and corporate responsibility practices.

CITGO Petroleum Corporation recently announced the more than 30 local community organizations that became grant finalists in the eighth year of its Bronx Social Program as part of its continued commitment to social initiatives in the South Bronx. The 2015-2016 finalists represent a diverse mix of focus areas, including arts and culture, education, community empowerment, environment and health. As the trend for safety and compliance issues become more paramount, entities such as the Nebraska Ethanol Board are taking a proactive and forward-thinking approach to safety. According to an article published by ethanolproducer.com, safety gurus from various organizations will meet to discuss multiple compliance and safety issues. The annual meeting is set for October 13th in Kearney, Nebraska.

Ruth Ann Barrett of EarthSayers.tv joins with Ilarion Merculieff (Aleut) of the Global Center for Indigenous Leadership and Lifeways to seek funding for the development of WisdomKeepers.tv, a Web-based search engine or gateway to curated video content advancing the Indigenous voices of sustainability and a sister site to EarthSayers.tv.

Republic Services works hand-in-hand with Carson High School on their recycling and composting initiatives. Carson High School was recently awarded the 2015 SEED Award for Environmental Excellence. In this category, Carson High competed against four other nominees, including Los Angeles World Airport (LAX). Carson High School was recognized for their sustainable efforts while being a student-run program. This is the second time the Carson High School program has been recognized. This year, Republic worked with Carson High to build off their program, and we are pleased that other high schools within LAUSD are now interested in duplicating the program at their schools.
