Subaru of America, Inc. today announced it will be hosting a pet adoption event during the 2019 Twin Cities Auto Show through a partnership with local animal shelter, Midwest Animal Rescue and Services (MARS). The 501(c)3 non-profit organization is committed to helping pets in need whenever possible, including all breeds and ages. The first-of-its-kind event will be held at the Subaru exhibit inside the Minneapolis Convention Center, where attendees will have the opportunity to adopt a dog or puppy. The adoption event is aimed at finding forever homes for pets in the Twin Cities.

Walmart and the Walmart Foundation Announce a Commitment of $50,000 for Disaster Relief After Devastating Tornadoes Hit Alabama and Georgia

In response to the multiple tornadoes that have impacted Alabama and Georgia, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have committed to provide $50,000 in support through cash and product donations. The commitment includes $15,000 in product donations to organizations providing support to impacted areas, and cash commitments of $15,000 to the Alabama Governor’s Relief Fund, $10,000 to the Community Foundation of East Alabama and $10,000 to the American Red Cross, which is providing relief services to affected communities in both Alabama and Georgia. As part of this commitment, Walmart is also working closely with local officials and government entities to help meet the needs of those affected.

Food giants have been investing increasingly in vegetarian and vegan brands this year, as plant-based food sales grew 20 percent to $3.3 billion in 2018, according to data from Nielsen and the Plant Based Foods Association.

The company hasn’t decided on brand names, whether to target food-service or retail, or what kind of protein it will use. But it says the move is part of a necessity for agriculture to evolve. Agriculture -- as one of the world’s biggest sources of global greenhouse gas emissions -- faces significant supply threats in a warming world.
