Please note that the activities highlighted in the following article took place prior to the current global health crisis.

One of the ways Alexion serves its communities is through volunteerism. Twenty employees from our College Park and Athlone sites in Ireland recently volunteered at the I WISH (Inspiring Women in STEM) 2020 Conference. I WISH is an initiative aimed at motivating and inspiring young women to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

"I WISH, held in both Cork and Dublin, reached an audience of over 7,000 female students this year. It helps bridge both the information gap and the confidence gap for girls considering a career in STEM,” said Sinead Curry, one of our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Champions, who drove this initiative. “We had a wonderful team of enthusiastic volunteers again at this year's event, running fun STEM related activities for the students and engaging with them around the exciting career paths that are available at Alexion in Ireland."

This year marked the 4th time Alexion volunteers participated in the I WISH conference and judging by the number of visitors who stopped by their table, it was the most exciting year yet! To learn more about how Alexion is serving its communities, visit Alexion.com.
