Kim Doyle Wille, a Colorado native, has been passionate about cooking since she was a young girl creating meals in her childhood home. Creating a nonprofit focused on healthy food options for the students and families in Garfield County was a natural way to turn that passion into action.
Water covers 70% of our planet, and it is easy to think that it will always be plentiful. However, as the world’s population continues to soar, so does the need for fresh water that makes up only 2.5% of the world’s water supply. The reality today is that the need for clean, safe water for drinking and sanitation far exceeds the readily available amount.
The need is severe. That’s why Xylem Watermark, Xylem’s corporate citizenship program, provides and protects safe water resources for many of the world’s most vulnerable communities and educates individuals around the globe about water issues.
By participating in a hands-on experience where they were able to see the amount of trash at the floodgate, these Xylem volunteers realized the importance of keeping water sources clean. Through their participation in this event, they helped to protect the water quality of the Delaware River and surrounding water sources.
As students begin to gather their notebooks, backpacks and pencils for the new school year, Keep America Beautiful, the nation’s iconic community improvement nonprofit organization, plans to ignite a passion for recycling in schools across the country with the launch of its 7th Annual Keep America Beautiful Recycle-Bowl. Goose Island Beer Company stopped by New York City on July 29 and Philadelphia on Aug. 5 as part of its Migration Week Tour, which brings the popular Goose Island craft beer to more than 25 cities across the country and throughout the world, encouraging friends and patrons to meet their brewers and enjoy their beers. During five of the week-long tour stops, Keep America Beautiful community-based affiliates and partners are conducting community improvement volunteer events.
