Volunteering & Community

Throughout the last several weeks, thousands of volunteers have given their time and energy to participate in service projects in hundreds of communities nationwide and around the globe. Those efforts were part of the lead up to today’s companywide celebration of Comcast Cares Day, one of the largest corporate commitments to volunteerism and service in America. From coast to coast and in 22 countries abroad, our employees – including our new colleagues at Sky, friends, family members, nonprofit partners, and local leaders, worked together to improve their communities and bring one of our company’s greatest traditions to life.

Over a dozen news outlets, including Bloomberg News, BuzzFeed and the Washington Post, have joined a coalition that’s raising awareness about press freedom worldwide.

On Saturday, May 4th, more than 100,000 Comcast, NBCUniversal – and for the first time Sky – employees will come together with their friends, family members, and nonprofit partners to “make change happen” as part of the 18th annual Comcast Cares Day.

Las Vegas Sands’ global corporate giving program, Sands Cares, donated $100,000 to HELP of Southern Nevada’s Shannon West Homeless Youth Center to provide 1,807 nights of shelter for at-risk youth, and the opportunity to name five rooms on the first floor of the center after Sands Cares.

Firefighters selflessly dedicate their time to protecting our lives and property, and sometimes they make the ultimate sacrifice while risking their lives to save others.

On May 4th – International Firefighters’ Day – we invite you to recognize and honor the sacrifices that firefighters make to ensure that their communities and environment are as safe as possible, and to thank current and past firefighters for their contributions.

Las Vegas Sands announced the 12 recipients of The Mr. Sheldon G. and Dr. Miriam Adelson Citizenship Award presented by Sands Cares. The award was established through Sands Cares, the company’s corporate giving program, to recognize team members across all regions who have demonstrated a dedication to giving back to their local communities and important causes.

Bridgestone Corporation announced the winners of the "Bridgestone Group Awards 2019" at a ceremony held on March 27, 2019. The Bridgestone Group Awards began in 2008 as an annual recognition program open to all employees and organizations of the Bridgestone Group. This recognition program confers the Bridgestone Group’s highest level of awards to promote greater employee awareness and engagement incorporate activities based on the Bridgestone Essence.

Now homeless and in a wheelchair, "Mama Rose" is first in line to thank volunteers from FedEx and the Salvation Army for taking the time to serve a warm meal from the Salvation Army’s new Canteen vehicle.

We have our hands full at Sea Change Radio just trying to cover important stories relating to the environment and social justice. But we also recognize that what’s happening in the broader political landscape has a profound ripple effect on environmental and social policies.
