Dive teams also removed fishing line that became tangled during the 2017 hurricane season. Not only is the line unsafe for tourists and locals looking for a refreshing swim, but also for hawksbill turtles which live in the area and are on the endangered species list.
In response to the record floods and tornados that have continued to impact Midwestern and Southern states this spring, Walmart, Sam’s Club and Walmart.org have committed to provide an additional $150,000 in support through cash and product donations, building on earlier commitments in March and early May and bringing the total support commitment to $500,000.
Arrow Electronics has teamed with Apps & Girls to bridge the tech gender gap in East Africa, by helping girls and young women expand their information technology skills. Apps & Girls provides coding training and entrepreneurship skills to girls in secondary schools in Tanzania. The social enterprise also offers mentorships to girls to create tech startups, connects them with jobs and internships and promotes their work to customers, partners and potential funders.
Evan West and Kira Marsh, members of the Charlotte Engineering Early College’s (CEEC) first graduating class of fifth-year students, have a lot in common. West and Marsh were co-valedictorians of their class. They have perfect 4.0 grade point averages in their UNC Charlotte courses.
