Advances in biomedical research are critical to fighting disease, and lengthening and improving quality of life. But today’s health challenges are too complex to be solved by any single organization – government, business, academia, not-for-profit organizations, patient advocates – working in isolation. That’s where the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) comes in.

In celebration of Pro Bono Week, Taproot Foundation announces that the 2015 standard for the value of pro bono service has increased 25% to $150 per hour. The $150 valuation defines the average, per hour value of time donated by business professionals to nonprofit organizations through pro bono services including expertise in marketing, strategic planning, HR, and IT. This study was developed in partnership with CECP, a coalition of 150 CEOs of the world’s largest companies focused on societal engagement, and is based on an analysis of data included in the 2015 Salary Guides produced annually by professional staffing firm Robert Half.

On Tuesday, October 20, FOX Sports was a co-presenting sponsor of the 36th Annual Salute to Women in Sports, an awards gala for the Women's Sports Foundation, which is dedicated to ensuring that girls across the US have access to sports. The event celebrated the achievements of female athletes over the past year and raised money for the foundation's grant programs supporting young athletes.

Founded in 1994 with only three employees, Hardy Buoys Smoked Fish Inc. has evolved into one of the largest employers in Port Hardy. Over the last two decades, the seasonal seafood locker for sport fishers with a small smoker and one freezer has grown into a thriving commercial business that provides jobs for 65 full-time employees in a 50,000 square foot facility.

According to the report, among the biggest obstacles to giving is affordability, and about 1 in 8 Americans surveyed said it’s because they “can’t give enough to make a difference.”
