The theme this year is on Technological Disruption in the World of Inclusive Business, with a focus digital solutions for the SDGs. We expect to bring more than 150 leading global innovators from multinationals to SMEs together to discuss impactful technological solutions that can be enacted in the near term. In the audience we will have business community representatives, as well as the UN, governments, civil society and the academia.

Ethics and responsibility in tech-driven business impacts everything from ensuring the proper use of data and being a privacy conscious company to social inclusion, freedom of speech and climate action. At the 2nd Annual Responsible Business Summit West 300+ business executives will meet to share ideas on how to address the three core pillars impacting digitally-driven business; Climate Action, Social Impact and Data, Privacy and Trust.

Sustainability has come a long way in the last 10 years. It's now common language in boardrooms across the world. Most companies have someone who has a title that includes the world Sustainability, CSR, Value Creation or Shared Value. This is a great achievement and we should all be thrilled with this cultural shift. But we're not there yet and lately inspiration has been lacking.

Behind the unending stream of headlines about executive malfeasance, there’s a lot of thought and action going on in progressive quarters about how to improve leadership training so that business can perform better.

What does calling imply when used in reference to leadership in business? What could “meaning” mean in business practice?

I hadn’t been to the California State Capitol for the longest time—probably since my visit back in elementary school, while growing up in Oakland, California. Fast forward to July 2017, and—after a quick selfie with “the bear” famously guarding the entrance to the California governor’s office—I was back in Sacramento to meet with the governor’s staff and make the case for the Erb Institute to be a part of the recently announced Global Climate Action Summit scheduled for the following year.

The 8th BCtA Annual Forum will take place at the Japan Society in New York during Global Goals Week on 28 September 2018.
