KeyBank Community Development Lending & Investment (CDLI) has provided $17.4 million in total financing for the construction of Hammock Ridge II in Spring Hill, FL. Key provided a $13.7 million construction loan and a $3.7 million Freddie Mac Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Forward Commitment.
Common Impact, a national nonprofit that pioneered corporate skills-based volunteering is expanding its leadership team and introducing new regional models to meet the growing demand of companies who are integrating social and environmental outcomes into their core business practices. Skills-based volunteering has risen in popularity, with CECP research reporting that now more than 54% of companies host a formal program. Companies use skills-based volunteering to engage and develop their employees, who are demanding that social impact be a day to day part of their work.
For the 11th consecutive year, NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NRG) employees took to the communities where they live and work to volunteer in the name of “positiveNRG week,” the company’s annual week of volunteering. This year’s efforts resulted in nearly 1,000 NRG employees across 16 states volunteering nearly 5,000 hours to 71 charities and nonprofits.

Sodexo, a food services and facilities management company committed to improving Quality of Life and student nutrition to nearly 400 school districts throughout the U.S, recently hosted The Kitchen Wars Challenge for Lakewood High School students in Lakewood, New Jersey. Teams of seven submitted recipes to compete in the “At the Movies...” themed event. Chef G. Just in time for summer, a celebration will be held today to commemorate the grand opening of the SC Johnson Community Aquatic Center, the first aquatic center to be developed in Racine County, located in Racine’s Pritchard Park. The Aquatic Center is funded by a $6.5 million donation from SC Johnson, and will open to the public June 2.
Duke Energy is expanding its investment in local students and workforce development by funding 36 education and training programs – totaling nearly $600,000 – in southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky. The grants, which are administered by the Duke Energy Foundation, will benefit and enhance educational programs focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), childhood reading proficiency and workforce development.
