On June 20, 2018, the Avery Dennison corporate Green Team and employees from our headquarters in Glendale, California gathered at Bette Davis Park in Glendale to volunteer a day of service with the Friends of the LA River (FoLAR).

This Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4, 2018, Keep America Beautiful, the nonprofit steward of litter prevention for more than six decades, is partnering with Fishbrain, the world’s most popular mobile app and social network for people who love fishing, to ask the app’s over 4 million US users to undertake the largest-ever one-day crowdsourced audit of litter in the US.

Continued degradation of environmental resources and failing to provide safe and healthy working environments globally have put water and OHS high on the global agenda. Credible and actionable information about organizations’ impact on society and the environment is more important now than it has ever been. The GRI Standards on OHS and water and effluents have been updated to ensure best practice of reporting. The updated GRI Standards further reflect the urgency of the new ways of understanding and addressing issues such as harm to workers’ health, or fresh water as an increasingly scarce resource.

Planet Water Foundation, a leading non-profit organization that addresses global water poverty by delivering clean water access and hygiene education programs and Xylem (XYL), a leading global water technology company committed to developing innovative technology solutions to the world’s water challenges, have devised a unique application for Xylem’s FlowJet advanced pumping technology to provide clean water access in homes located in some of the world’s most impoverished communities.

Kansas City’s Smart Sewer program is the largest infrastructure investment in the city’s history.

The program employs a network of sensors—including sonar and radar technology—to accurately track real-time sewer overflows and optimize the use of its existing sewer system.

Kansas City is among a handful of American cities like Cincinnati and South Bend that are responding to chronic problems with sewer overflows by adopting the latest in smart tech to access real-time data to direct wastewater to existing stations. The new method saves money and protects the major waterways.

In its new annual corporate sustainability report, Catalyst for a Better World, Ecolab Inc. (ECL) highlights how it helps customers reduce water and energy use, ensure clean hospitals, hotels and restaurants, and safely produce the world’s food and energy.
