Campaign: Pro Bono Week

October 23, 2013 /3BL Media/ - In partnership with the Centre for Social Innovation and DesigNYC, Taproot Foundation announces the upcoming “Pro Bono Day NYC: Connecting Passion with Purpose” event on Wednesday, October 23rd during National Pro Bono Week (Oct 21st – 26th). Hosted by the Centre for Social Innovation, Pro Bono Day NYC will bring together nonprofits, volunteers, pro bono providers and strategic partners for a day-long series of events and workshops highlighting the thriving pro bono movement in New York City.

Panel discussions around the importance of design, tech and corporate philanthropy to the nonprofit community will comprise much of the day, with leading experts from DataKind, Catchafire and the Citi Foundation sharing insights around how pro bono can be used as a solution to business challenges affecting the nonprofit sector. Following the panel discussions, attendees are invited to attend a networking reception to celebrate the pro bono movement, with guest speakers such as Diahann Billings-Burford, the Chief Service Officer of NYC Service, and Aaron Hurst, CEO of Imperative.

“Pro Bono Day NYC: Connecting Passion with Purpose” is generously sponsored by the Citi Foundation.

About Taproot
Since 2001, Taproot Foundation has proven that pro bono service is a viable and reliable tool for strengthening nonprofit organizations. Today, Taproot continues to lead nationally by acting locally, and seeks to build a pro bono marketplace that, like philanthropy, is large, accessible, professional and transparent. By taking lessons learned from our award-winning Service Grant Program and applying them to our innovative new program areas, we work to stimulate the supply of pro bono resources through our corporate Advisory Services practice, as well as demand for these services by giving nonprofits the tools and training that sets them up for successful pro bono engagements. Our work has evolved to include thought leadership and international field-building, convening global leaders in the social sector to guide the design and direction of the pro bono movement while focusing on infusing a pro bono ethic into business professions, professional schools, companies and nonprofits in communities across the country and around the world.
