HP and CHAI Scoop Top Award for Best Business/NGO Partnership at “the CSR party of the year”

Today’s pace-setters in corporate sustainability and social innovation attended what was billed as “the CSR party of the year” – the 4th annual Ethical Corporation Responsible Business Awards ceremony in London, UK (June 24th). HP was proud to be there, scooping first place in the coveted Best Business/NGO Partnership awards category for its collaboration with the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI).
Selection was based on commitment to a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership that demonstrates real gains for society, and this year’s judging panel included an NGO (Greenpeace), journalist (The Economist), and academic (Brunel University).
Together HP and CHAI have worked with the Ministry of Health and Strathmore University in Kenya to create a technology-based Early Infant Diagnosis solution that saves lives by achieving efficient HIV-positive infant diagnosis and reducing test result turnaround times, and helps healthcare policy decision makers with richer near-real-time data, timely analysis, and process transparency. The success of this innovation had resulted in roll-out to several countries – Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria – as well as solution extension to HIV/AIDS viral load testing, and future surveillance of other diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis.
