Giving Back and Going Back...Prepping for School in NC

Today in Durham NC, over 150 GSK volunteers handed out backpacks filled with school supplies to children at the Durham Rescue Mission’s 16th annual Back to School Party.

GSK donates the supplies and helps at the event as a contribution to the health of the community where we are proud to live and work.

The goal is to get kids excited about going back to school and getting a good start on the new school year.

GSK’s Jack Bailey (President US Pharma) handed out the first backpack of the day.

Over 3000 backpacks were given out – and more markers than we can count!

This year, Durham Rescue Mission provided over 13,000 articles of clothing including free sneakers, which were a big hit!

Mary from GSK’s IT group has volunteered at this event for the past 8 years. A big thank you to all of the GSK employee volunteers for their help in making this a success!
