“We are honored to be taking part in Pro Bono Week and thank Taproot Foundation for its stewardship of this important event.  Over the past two years, we have witnessed more and more companies and nonprofits using skills-based volunteerism as a strategic, mutually beneficial approach to corporate community engagement.  Since 2000, Common Impact has been designing customized programs that develop the leadership and functional skills of corporate employees at any stage in their career, while addressing critical social sector needs. We are eager to share our expertise, experiences, and resources with organizations that are thinking about expanding their skills-based strategies” said Danielle Holly, Executive Director, Common Impact.

Holly emphasized that new approaches to strategic philanthropy, such as FSG’s Collective Impact, have supported innovation in skills-based service.  In the past year, Common Impact has been working to convene multiple corporate, nonprofit, and public sector experts and investors to use skills-based volunteerism as a way to address the most critical challenges facing municipalities.  “By identifying the unique expertise each actor brings to bear on a challenge, and matching that with a shared strategy and operational plan, you quickly see how organizations can work together to inform large scale change. It’s an exciting time for skills-based volunteerism.”
