Southern California Edison Supports Transportation Electrification

Accelerating the use of electric transportation will be key to achieving California’s air quality and climate change goals. As the grid becomes cleaner by relying on more renewable resources, electricity companies like Southern California Edison can make a big difference in reducing emissions from the transportation sector. Porterville Transit First Site for SCE’s Electric Bus Charging Pilot
Bus riders in Porterville, a city about 60 miles north of Bakersfield, will soon have one more reason to feel good about using public transportation: clean, smog-free electric buses. And thanks to a new pilot program being launched by Southern California Edison, Porterville Transit will receive financial assistance for bus charging stations, including free installation of electrical infrastructure, to support 10 new zero-emission buses the transit agency is adding to its fleet. The new battery electric buses are replacing older ones that run on fossil fuel.

Home Charging Installation Rebates Make it Easier to Drive Electric
Southern California Edison celebrated today the installation of 1,000 electric vehicle chargers in more than 60 locations throughout the Southland, and also announced that it is starting a new pilot program to help customers install EV charging stations at home. The 1,000th charger was installed at South El Monte High School through Charge Ready, SCE’s pilot program to add EV charging stations at locations where people leave their cars for the day. These locations include workplaces, public parking lots, hospitals and destination centers, as well as apartment and condominium complexes.

SCE Provides $450 Rebate for New and Used Electric Vehicles
Starting today, Southern California Edison is offering a $450 reward to customers who drive all-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The incentive, which is being offered through SCE’s Clean Fuel Rewards Program, applies to new, used and leased vehicles. Unlike most rebate programs, second and third owners of a vehicle are also eligible for the payment.
