September 25, 2014 /3BL Media/ - On Aug. 14, local CITGO Marketers Condon Oil Company, Frawley Oil Company and U.S. Oil, CITGO Petroleum Corporation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) teamed up for the second annual MDA Madison Muscle Team event at the Keva Sports Center in Middleton. The event, which raised more than $110,000 in support of the Southern Wisconsin Chapter of the MDA, drew more than 450 attendees, including special guest and National Goodwill Ambassador Reagan Imhoff and nearly 25 local, state and national athletes.

“We welcome any opportunity to support our local MDA chapter,” said Tom Reinsch, vice president of petroleum operations at Condon Oil. “We have participated in MDA Muscle Team events in the past and have also hosted golf and fishing tournaments to support the MDA. Helping those who suffer from neuromuscular diseases is important to our organization and we hope that our efforts will continue to spread awareness of these diseases that affect our community. We are grateful to CITGO, the MDA and all the athletes who attended the event for their ongoing partnership and we hope to continue this collaboration for years to come.”

As part of the fundraising event, children living with neuromuscular diseases, the “MDA Buddies,” were paired with athletes known as the “MVP Buddies,” including Hall of Fame Inductee Ahman Green and former Green Bay football players William Henderson and Antonio Freeman. Attendees enjoyed an evening featuring live and silent auctions, food stations from local vendors, and live entertainment. In addition, the event included a children’s art auction featuring artwork by some of the “MDA Buddies.”

The annual MDA Madison Muscle Team event will benefit families in the area who are dealing with the challenges associated with muscular dystrophy. The funds raised will help send children in the area to the MDA summer camp in Kenosha County and directly support local clinics as well as care programs and research efforts.

“CITGO has been a top corporate sponsor of the MDA for many years,” said Rafael Gómez, vice president of government and public affairs at CITGO. “We have invested significant resources because we understand how these neuromuscular diseases affect the loyal customers and community members where we do business. It is truly rewarding to give back to a cause so close to our hearts.”
