Meg Whitman's CEO Letter Highlights HPE Sustainability Achievements and Progress

At HPE, we believe that sustainable innovation is a powerful catalyst for change. Reporting our efforts regularly and clearly to customers, investors, and key stakeholders amplifies our commitment to sustainability. In addition, to promote higher standards across the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anticorruption, we endorse the United Nations Global Compact as a practical framework for the development, implementation, and disclosure of sustainability policies and practices.

GRI Rises To Sustainability Standards Challenge

Timothy J. Mohin is the Chief Executive of GRI, developer of the world’s most widely used sustainability reporting standards. A veteran in the field of corporate sustainability reporting, he is now steering GRI to lead the evolution of sustainability reporting. Here's how he will do this.

GRI Supports Recommendations by the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures

GRI strongly supports the work of the Financial Stability Board’s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). The TCFD recommendations take an important step towards integrating sustainability information into financial disclosures. Investors and other stakeholders will be better informed by the TCFD disclosures on climate-related financial risks and opportunities. Another important breakthrough is the recommendation for scenario planning. Only by forecasting impacts can companies truly prepare and thrive as the climate changes.

MetLife Ensuring Stability

As featured in the MetLife Global Impact 2016 CSR Report: MetLife’s culture of risk management, ethics and integrity are woven into the fabric of the organization — which means employees at all levels and in all departments take responsibility.

First 100 GRI Standards Reports Published

Created exclusively for the GOLD Community members, the Standards Pioneers Program has kicked off with an impressive participation rate. The 153 Pioneer organizations come from 44 different countries and multiple sectors. More than half of the Pioneers have already started preparing their sustainability report based on the GRI Standards, and the majority of them will publish their report by the end of the year.

Las Vegas Sands CSR Pillars

Las Vegas Sands made marked strides in its endeavor to be a socially responsible company in 2016. We delivered on our core pillars of People, Communities and Planet, with dedicated programs that made impact internally with our Team Members and externally in the hospitality industry, in the regions where we operate and in our quest to reduce impact on the environment. Evidence of the success of our work
in 2016 was our designation in early 2017 as one ofFortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies, encompassing our corporate social responsibility performance as well as our leadership, innovation and financial performance.

Our Commitment | A letter from Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sheldon G. Adelson

Las Vegas Sands Corp. is a company with many eyes on it. We enjoy the patronage of our guests and the meetings and convention industry because of our award-winning integrated resort properties and our impeccable service. We are honored to work with a wide variety of partners to build our business and serve the communities where we operate. We also are privileged to receive the attention of many others who want to know us better, from leaders in regions where we hope to invest, to the financial community, government leaders, media and industry pundits. Our intention in this report is to show these important audiences what lies behind our iconic buildings, the dazzling array of offerings and our strong financial success.

GRI Focuses on Three Key Areas to Promote Sustainable Development in Emerging Markets

Keeping an eye on the future, GRI’s second annual donors meeting in Amsterdam focused on the challenges and opportunities for sustainable development in emerging markets. In a day-long exchange of experiential knowledge and insights, GRI’s country managers and directors located in Africa, South America and Asia, interacted directly with our government funders from Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (UK) on the potential of reporting as a driver for transparent and sustainable value chains.
