Sustainability is one of Newmont’s core values, and this commits us to serve as a catalyst for local economic development through transparent and respectful stakeholder engagement and as responsible stewards of the environment. In Denver, Newmont’s Socially and Environmentally Responsible Volunteer Employees (S.E.R.V.E.) committee is one of the ways that we’re working to honor that commitment.

At Weatherford, we are committed to excellence. Excellence in the quality of our work, in the safety of our employees, and in our efforts to protect the environment. In line with this mission, we observe the United Nations World Environment Day on June 5.

More and more, employees expect their employers to share their commitment to the environment. A study released last month showed that 69 percent of U.S. employees surveyed want to see their employers take a public stand on clean air, water and open spaces.

Consumers Energy today announced a local resurgence in a once nearly extinct population of peregrine falcons. Two decades of work by Consumers’ employees has contributed to more than 80 chicks hatched at two West Michigan locations.

For example, being sustainable today goes far beyond simply generating more sustainable product solutions. Truly innovative companies are embracing ever-evolving business models that offer a clear link to longer term economic success.

The World Environment Center (WEC) is pleased to share a new video from its chairman of the board, Francisco Suárez, in which he outlines WEC’s main corporate sustainability initiatives and progress from the past year.

Today marks the United Nations’ 43rd World Environment Day – a global awareness day intended to encourage people to reconnect with nature and remind us why keeping our planet healthy is so important. It’s a day to encourage action for environmental protection, something that remains top of mind for Ingersoll Rand as we seek to reduce the environmental impacts of our operations and product portfolio.

BSR regrets that the United States has announced its intention to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on climate change. The Paris Agreement is supported by an unprecedented consensus of nations—only Syria and Nicaragua have not signed it. The overwhelming majority of businesses and investors believe that the Paris Agreement is essential to ensuring innovation, competitiveness, and job creation, in addition to the evident benefits with respect to combatting climate change. Furthermore, evidence suggests that a strong majority of the American public believes the same thing.

I’ve received many questions over the past few months about Ingersoll Rand’s commitment to reducing energy demand and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Those questions intensified this week with news of the United States’ withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on climate change.
