The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) recently launched a new video that tells the story of how its local and international partners are developing a commercially viable, conflict-free supply chain for artisanal minerals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Tetra Tech is supporting the USAID Capacity Building For Responsible Minerals Trade (CBRMT) project to help scale-up conflict-free mineral certification and traceability systems in the region. Ecolab Investing in Renewable Power Project With Clearway Energy Group

Ecolab Inc. has signed an agreement to support Clearway Energy Group’s 419-megawatt wind farm, Mesquite Star, in Fisher County, Texas. Construction of the Mesquite Star wind farm is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2019. The renewable electricity generated under Ecolab’s 100-megawatt agreement is expected to cover 100 percent of the company’s annual domestic energy use and help reduce its greenhouse gas emissions 25 percent by 2020 versus a 2015 baseline.

Additive Manufacturing Beyond Hobbyist 3D Printing

Additive manufacturing (AM) already has many industrial uses, with more being discovered every year. Similar in principle to 3D printing, but distinct in execution, AM is the process of joining materials to make objects from 3D models, usually layer by layer, followed by a finishing process that prepares the new part for installation or use. While 3D printing excels at producing models and imitations, AM combines printing technologies, computer-assisted design (CAD), and post-production processing to create usable components.
