The Baker Hughes Foundation has announced a $250,000 grant to the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in support of its efforts to end the pandemic through equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution and other support for the world’s most vulnerable populations.
A decade ago, Business Call to Action (BCtA) was launched with just 18 companies at the helm. Consumer goods giant Unilever Bangladesh has joined Business Call to Action with a commitment to educate an additional 5 million rural children on handwashing and tooth-brushing, ensure access to safe drinking water for over 1 million people, and ensure above minimum wage employment for thousands by 2021.
Hope Herron has been an environmental specialist and climate resilience expert with Tetra Tech for more than 10 years. She develops strategic, sustainable, resilient, and socio-economic solutions to global development challenges. Hope uses her knowledge to improve livelihoods, mitigate climate change impacts, and increase transparency for sustainable supply chains—from creating climate change assessment tools in the Caribbean to incorporating environmental considerations into road and bridge design in South Sudan.
Today, American Express, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Main Street America announced the winners of the 2018 Partners in Preservation: Main Streets campaign. The 11 winning historic sites will receive a total of $1.6 million in grants to fund their respective preservation projects. At the outset of the campaign, an additional $400,000 was allocated to the 20 Main Street communities that participated in the program to increase public awareness of the importance of these historic places and build grassroots support for the participating Main Street districts.
Minera El Abra, a Freeport-McMoRan company, financed the services of Fundación Acrux in the Antofogasta Region of Chile where the El Abra operations are located.
The Fundación Acrux is a non-profit organization of volunteer medical specialists who provide medical services to patients from the most remote places in Chile.
