Holland America Line Wins ‘Seafarer of the Year’ Award from Lloyd’s List for ms Veendam’s Rescue of Pilot from Pacific Ocean

At the 2016 Lloyd's List North American Maritime Awards, the captain and crew of Holland America Line's ms Veendam were named "Seafarer of the Year" for the rescue of a pilot who ejected from his aircraft in the Pacific Ocean. Holland America Line received the award at a ceremony in New York in May.

Monday morning the Aquarium of Genoa played host to the presentation of the sperm whale protection protocol of conduct developed by the partners of the Whalesafe conservation project and co-financed by the European Union through the Life+ program, including the University of Genoa (Department of Physics and the Department of Earth Sciences, Environment and Life), Costa Edutainment, the Maritime Administration of Genoa, the Harbourmaster's Office of Savona and Softeco Sismat.

Index Report Calls for Supply Chain Transparency in Fashion Industry

This April, Fashion Revolution, a non-profit organization, released their annual Fashion Transparency Index report. The Index ranks 40 of the most recognizable fashion brands based on their supply chain transparency and governance practices. The average score was 42%, with only three brands receiving a “top rating” of up to 77%. Companies with higher scores made their supply chain policies available to the public, and had auditing and reporting policies in place. A majority of companies receiving low scores merely had a code of conduct available on their websites.
