Clearing the Air: Boeing Helps Airlines Cut Emissions

As aviation’s global fleet doubles over the next 20 years to meet passenger and cargo demand, the industry has committed to capping the growth of carbon emissions by 2020 and then cutting them to half of what they were in 2005 by 2050. Boeing supports progress with efficient airplanes, work with industry partners to improve operational efficiency and foster development of sustainable aviation fuel.

Boeing to Offer Biofuel for Airlines to Fly New Airplanes Home

Boeing will begin offering airlines and operators the option of powering their new commercial jet with biofuel for the flight home. The program is designed to further spur the use of sustainable aviation fuels – which cut emissions up to 80 percent – and support the aviation industry’s drive to protect the environment.

Hundreds March in Walk for Warmth

Hundreds of Consumers Energy employees, family and friends took part in the annual Walk for Warmth in Jackson on Thursday, raising funds to help community members in need with their energy bills. The Jackson event was one of many around the state in which company employees have participated this year.

Partnerships in Powerful Alignment at Musselwhite

Between 2012 and 2015, Goldcorp’s Musselwhite mine partnered with surrounding First Nations communities and provided early funding to create a joint-venture called Wataynikaneyap (Watay) Power, to bring electrical grid connection into the northwest region of Ontario, Canada, and potentially provide power to Musselwhite.

Consumers Energy Announces Plans to Develop Solar Power Plant in Cadillac

Consumers Energy announced today that it plans to develop its third solar power plant in Cadillac, building on its Triple Bottom Line commitment to people, the planet and Michigan’s prosperity. The Cadillac City Council this week approved an agreement to allow Consumers Energy to place solar panels on the Mitchell-Bentley property, a currently vacant site with a manufacturing history that dates to the late 1800s.

Yesterday’s Waste Leads to Tomorrow’s Energy

Republic Services’ landfills aren’t just collecting trash, they can also produce renewable energy. Today, we’re capturing landfill gas and converting it to electricity and fuel. We also are utilizing closed landfills to generate solar electricity. Through these efforts, we’re converting previously unused resources into power for homes, businesses and vehicles – including our own collection trucks.

How This Indiana Hospital Saved Big on Its Electric Bill

You might need to spend money to make money, but sometimes you’ve got to spend money to save it, too. Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, Ind., made extensive energy efficiency upgrades last year and earned $114,263 in incentives from Duke Energy. In addition, the hospital reaps the benefits of its investment each month when it pays less for energy.

Texas Sun Powers New Green Mountain Energy Go Local Solar Plan

Electricity customers across the state can let their Texas pride shine while showing the planet some love with a new solar plan. Green Mountain Energy has launched its first electricity plan that lets customers power their homes with 100 percent solar electricity generated right here in Texas. Go Local Solar is inspired by the farm-to-table movement, harnessing electricity from Texas-based solar parks and giving both homeowners and renters local solar power with no rooftop installation or upfront costs required.
