The wastewater treatment system at Ingersoll Rand’s Monterrey, Mexico facility helps employees save over 1,000 gallons of water daily. Ingersoll Rand is the only manufacturer in the area treating its wastewater (February 2013).

Teams at Ingersoll Rand's Monterrey, Mexico facility addressed water scarcity issues and made changes that enabled reuse of wastewater from manufacturing processes, and saved tens of thousands of dollars.

Summary

Employees at this 1-million-plus square foot facility had the opportunity to positively impact their local environment in two ways: 1) significantly decrease the amount of water they draw from local wells and 2) lessen the amount of wastewater they discharged. On average, the facility’s treatment of all wastewater results in about 1,065 gallons of new water saved per day, or 13% less water extracted from wells, and a 65% reduction in the amount of wastewater discharged from the facility.
