(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) WASHINGTON, D.C. -  July 7, 2010 - Scott Davis, the chairman and CEO of UPS (NYSE:UPS), today was named by President Barack Obama to the President’s Export Council.

“Boosting America’s exports strengthens our economic growth and supports millions of good, high-paying American jobs,” Obama told a White House gathering. “That’s why I set a goal during my State of the Union address to double our exports over the next five years.  Since then, my administration has worked to improve advocacy for our exporters, remove trade barriers and enforce trade rules in an effort to ensure that the benefits of global trade are broadly shared.”   “UPS strongly supports the removal of international trade barriers and has pledged to do all it can to help the United States realize the President’s vision of doubling U.S. exports over the next five years,” said Davis. “I am honored to be part of an initiative that will work to foster engagement in the global economy for both small and large businesses.”   As the top advisory committee on global trade, the President’s Export Council advises the President on government policies and programs that affect U.S. trade performance, while also providing a forum for discussing and resolving trade-related problems among businesses, industrial, agricultural, labor and government sectors.   Davis’ elevation to the Council recognizes the importance of the express delivery industry to the nation’s economy and in facilitating global trade.   About UPS UPS (NYSE: UPS) is the world's largest package delivery company and a global leader in supply chain and freight services. With more than a century of experience in transportation and logistics, UPS is a leading global trade expert equipped with a broad portfolio of solutions. Headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., UPS serves more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. The company can be found on the Web at UPS.com and its corporate blog can be found at www.blog.ups.com. To get UPS news direct, visit pressroom.ups.com/RSS.  To ask about this press release, contact: Norman Black UPS Public Relations 404-828-7593
