Project for Supporting Women-Led Small and Growing Businesses in Mexico is One of the Winners of ANDE Capacity Development Fund

November 11, 2013 /3BL Media/ - The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) announced that the project “Adoption of best practices and new models for supporting Women-Led Small and Growing Businesses (WSGBs) in Mexico” was one of the winners of the fifth round of the ANDE Capacity Development Fund; therefore the project will receive a grant that will be used for its implementation, which will be led by Value for Women.

Banorte will have an active role in the implementation of this project, seeking to contribute in the strengthening of the Mexican ecosystem supporting women entrepreneurs and to continue developing products that support women. In connection with the above, Banorte Foundation will co-fund the project together with ANDE.

The project was designed by the women working group, which belongs to ANDE Central America and Mexico Chapter where Banorte is a member of the Steering Committee. The working group is integrated by the following organizations: Agora Partnerships, Grupo Financiero Banorte, BiD Network, CREA, Endeavor México, Oxfam Mexico, Oxfam America, Value for Women, Venture Institute, Vital Voices Mexico and WEConnect International Mexico.

The main objectives of the project are:

  • Mapping the growth process of the WSGBs and of the actors in Mexico working to support WSGBs, as well as, developing a guide for women entrepreneurs.
  • Benchmark of best practices in access to finance, value chain inclusion and capacity development for WSGBs.
  • Development of pilot programs to be implemented among members of the working group.

The project aims to strengthen the understanding about the Mexican ecosystem supporting women entrepreneurs and to foster the collaboration of initiatives in order to strengthen WSGBs for them to better their conditions to compete in the marketplace. With these actions, Banorte ratifies its commitment to support SMEs to make Mexico stronger.
