NAEM Announces Preliminary 2013 Forum Agenda

May 14, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Today NAEM announced the preliminary agenda for the 2013 EHS Management Forum on October 23-25 in Montreal.

Organized around the theme of “Bringing the Pieces Together,” the agenda was designed meet the diverse professional development needs of today’s corporate environment, health and safety (EHS) and sustainability leaders, according to NAEM Deputy Director Virginia Hoekenga.   “They have many jobs to do and wear many hats,” said Ms. Hoekenga, who heads the Forum planning process. “They are challenged to build bridges between different functions to manage the EHS&S issues that touch all part of the business.”   The agenda features 24 sessions, divided into four concurrent tracks: “Business Drivers & Innovation”; Strategy & Leadership”; “Compliance & Core Values”; and “Culture & Engagement”.   Michael Miller, Vice President of EHS for Dean Foods Co. and co-chair of the Forum planning committee, said the topics were selected to improve the effectiveness of the individual leader.   “By focusing our EHS and sustainability imperatives around business value, leadership and excellence, we can ensure all the activities we must accomplish are covered,” he said. “This program brings the pieces together to help members add value to their business and distinguish themselves as leaders in the field.”   Mr. Miller said the agenda also will offer innovations to keep the peer-to-peer program fresh.   “We are adding some roundtable discussions, a mock trial and a true North American focus by having more content for our Canadian professionals,” he said. “We hope that some of the new additions to our agenda will spark more interaction among attendees.”   This year’s agenda includes sessions on:   • Aligning Sustainability Strategy with Business Drivers and Priorities • Innovative Methods to Manage, Measure and Monetize Risk • Practices of Corporate Leaders in a Water-constrained World • Meaningful Energy Management: Beyond Low-hanging Fruit • Creating Employee “Culture Change” Ambassadors, a Step-by-Step Guide • Building and Maintaining EHS Talent • Preventing Compliance Backslide in a Lean Business Environment • Characteristics of Leading EHS Organizations • Exploring the Future: What is beyond sustainability?   Now in its 21st year running, NAEM’s Forum is the longest-running and largest conference for EHS and sustainability leaders.
