(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) May 11, 2010 - In a year which has seen some difficult economic challenges for many businesses, one positive story of growth through the recession is that of specialist green recruitment company Acre, proving that green shoots are taking root in the US job market.

One year after opening their US office, Acre is already seeing a rise in the number of vacancies, job seekers and the variety of companies looking to hire green professionals across the US; a trend that seems set to continue.   In 2009 Acre launched the largest survey of the climate change job market ever conducted; The Carbon Salary Survey and this survey showed that 27% of companies hiring climate change professionals had head-quarters based in the US.   Martin Killeen, VP of Acre’s US operation observes, “the results of The Carbon Salary Surveyidentified the US as one of the main hubs of green industry. Our experience in the last 6 months indicates that we will see further growth in the green job market when the second survey is run later this year.”   Acre has seen almost a 100 per cent increase in the number of green jobs in the US since last year and a 40% increase in job applications from green professionals based in the US. “These are all positive signs that green industries are strengthening in the US” say Killeen. “And we predict that this growth will continue to create new specialist green job opportunities across the US.”     Andrew Cartland, Acre’s Managing Director comments “we launched in the US during a turbulent economic period but our faith in green job market has been rewarded. We have had particular success in placing renewable energy specialists - particularly solar - and corporate responsibility strategists and as a result we are now looking to add to our own staff numbers”.
