Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) has signed a letter issued by the Prince of Wales Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) to Heads of State and Government of the European Union this week, urging them to take action on climate change. We join a group of 56 other companies and organisations from a diverse range of sectors, including the likes of General Electric (GE), Tesco, Ikea, GSK and Unilever, representing over 4.5 million employees.

Together with the other signatories, we recognise our part in helping to deliver sustainable economic growth for Europe. We are all committed to contributing to a modern, resource-efficient and low carbon economy through sustainability initiatives and believe this will be a driver for Europe’s economic recovery, competitiveness and job creation.

The letter issued by the CLG has arisen from concerns over the costs, risks and impact of climate change on markets, resource costs and society as a whole. A lack of action will have a significant impact on sustainable investments.

In advance of the 23rd-24th October European Council, European Heads of State and Government are encouraged to agree on a robust 2030 energy and climate policy framework and energy security strategy in line with Europe’s long term climate objectives, which includes the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050.
