Sustainable Operations

As a global organization with more than 300,000 products and employing 20,000 people across more than 60 countries, we recognize the importance of reducing the environmental impacts of our own operations.

We are focused on reducing the greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, water use and waste impact associated with our operations—without sacrificing quality or time delivery. In addition to our own operations, we collaborate with our supply chain partners to further reduce our combined environmental impacts.

How Does MilliporeSigma Help to Repair the Mississippi River?
The Mississippi River is the United States’ most well-known river which serves multiple purposes, including drainage for 40 percent of the United States’ waterflow and creating fertile ground where agriculture, trade and cities have flourished for centuries. It also serves as the drinking water source for 50 cities and 20 million people. But with all this development along its riverbanks, it has been subjected to centuries of pollution — especially during heavy rainfall.

MilliporeSigma Centers Work Toward a Smaller Carbon Footprint in India
India is the third-largest emitter of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the world, accounting for 6.8 percent of global CO2 emissions. At the 2015 United Nations Convention on Climate Change, India signed the Paris Agreement and committed to reducing CO2 emissions 35 percent by 2030 compared to 2005 emission levels. Since then, the Indian government has introduced emissions control measures for power plants and tighter vehicular emission standards, while calling on businesses to reduce emissions.

Energy Efficiency Benefits NH Businesses
Look no further for a success story than MilliporeSigma, a global company with 65 manufacturing sites worldwide and more than 19,000 employees. One of their largest manufacturing facilities — located in our own backyard: Jaffrey, New Hampshire — produces precision filtration devices for use in the food and beverage, ultra-pure water and pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. The Jaffrey plant continuously implements energy efficiency measures targeted at reducing costs while working towards the company’s corporate goal of a 20 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 versus 2006 levels.

Green Infrastructure

Energy Efficiency Benefits NH Businesses: A Success Story
Although popular and highly effective, solar panels aren’t the only option to save on energy costs. In fact, energy efficiency is a tried and true method to reduce energy consumption and lower energy costs with a rapid return on investment. Beyond the economic benefits, energy efficiency measures such as improved lighting, weatherization and efficient heating & cooling equipment can actually improve overall building comfort and productivity at home and at work.
