Social Accountability International- Corporate Programs

Key Lesson for Companies: Promote Continual Improvement

SAI believes that management systems are the key to improving the labor standards performance of companies and their supply chains.  Companies with a strong internal management system are better equipped to withstand the internal and external changes that may pose a risk to business operations.

This concept is a central tenet of SAI’s approach to improving the social compliance throughout the supply chain, and is an element of the SA8000® standard.

SAI's Corporate Programs are designed to provide companies with the tools and knowledge to develop and implement credible CSR policies and procedures.  Our experience, and that of world leading companies in CSR, shows that management systems are the key to making lasting improvements from the factories and the fields to corporate headquarters.

SAI's Corporate Programs also help companies to extend the principles and management systems approach unique to SA8000 throughout their supply chains. We help companies integrate social compliance into their supplier development and supply chain management.

As a member, you gain exposure to best practices from companies that are striving to drive responsible sourcing practices. Our experience with both corporate members and certified suppliers, means that we understand the on-the-ground issues of social compliance from the supply-side and from the buy-side.

SAI offers three progressive levels of corporate participation: Supporting, Explorer and Signatory. All three levels are designed to enhance a company’s CSR capabilities, regardless of prior experience, industry or resources.
