Corporations School US Universities on Buying and Using Clean Energy

In 2015, corporations bought roughly 3.2 gigawatts (GW) of electricity from utility-scale renewable energy facilities, which generate power from sources like wind and solar and then pump it into the grid to supply energy to utilities and other customers. Indeed, corporations surpassed utilities last year as the majority buyers of wind power. But universities may be the next big customer for utility-scale renewable energy.

National Grid Joins Combined Heat and Power for Resiliency Accelerator at White House Event

This week the U.S. Energy Department announced three new Better Buildings Accelerators and 50 new partners to help the nation seize opportunities to improve critical infrastructure in our communities. As a partner in the Better Buildings Combined Heat and Power Resiliency, National Grid will work to support and expand the consideration of combined heat and power technologies for improved efficiency and enhanced resiliency.

Global Cities, Inc. Convenes Representatives from Over 20 U.S. School Districts & Educators from Europe to Promote Early Global Digital Education

Twenty-five U.S. school districts from 16 states participated in a symposium on global digital education convened by Global Cities, Inc., a program of Bloomberg Philanthropies. More than 20 of the school districts were from the largest school districts in the U.S. including New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, Ft. Lauderdale and Houston. In addition, the symposium was attended by educators from Barcelona, London, and Warsaw.

Diageo & Crown Royal Relief Efforts for Alberta Wildfire Victims

The Canadian province of Alberta is currently facing one of the worst natural disasters in recent years, as they battle wildfires that span 400,000 acres, and are expected to burn for months. The fires continue to devastate the area. Diageo and Crown Royal have mobilized efforts to bring some relief to those in the affected area.
