CBRE Group, Inc., a leader in responsible business practices within the commercial real estate industry, has released its ninth annual Corporate Responsibility Report, which provides an overview of the global social, economic and environmental impacts of CBRE’s operations. “Inside Advantage—2015 Corporate Responsibility Report” highlights the significant accomplishments and milestones of CBRE’s corporate responsibility program throughout 2015 and early 2016.

Following the issuance of the Clean Power Plan, EPA’s well-publicized regulation aimed at reducing CO2 emissions from the power plants, the agency has shifted its focus to reducing methane emissions from the oil and gas sector in order to further reduce the anthropogenic contribution to global climate change. Methane, while emitted in much lesser quantities, is a more potent greenhouse gas than CO2, estimated to be around 25 times more harmful than its more widely known counterpart. Today, based on millions of dollars in grants for research, leak detection and monitoring technology may be ready to make a giant leap forward.

In this respect, electric vehicles carry less risk. If gasoline supply or infrastructure fails, electric vehicle owners don’t lose their mobility. In a moment like this in Georgia, I’m grateful for that benefit.

Environmentalism and social activism are sometimes considered to be all doom and gloom, but the first annual Best for The World conference refused to comply with such stereotypes.
