2017 Giving in Numbers Survey Launches

CECP, in association with The Conference Board, announced the launch of the 16th annual Giving in Numbers survey. The largest and most robust of its kind, the survey is open through March 31, 2017 to companies with revenue of US $2 billion or more, including companies not yet affiliated with CECP or The Conference Board. CECP: The CEO Force for Good is a coalition of more than 200 of the world’s largest companies that represent $7 trillion in revenues, $18.6 billion in societal investment, and 13 million employees.

The largest U.S.-based food services provider, Aramark, has teamed up with the nation’s largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, American Heart Association, to develop the “Healthy for Life 20 by 20” initiative. Educating children in hygiene is a good investment in their health. A joint SCA and Vinda project in Shenzhen, China, showed that good hygiene habits can reduce the risk of childhood diseases such as hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) by up to 60%.

Goodwill: The Unsung Hero of Healthcare Plastics Recycling

Most people know Goodwill as a thrift store, or donation center for unwanted items, and not as being in the recycling business. However, Goodwill is helping to reduce landfilling and associated environmental impacts through various recycling efforts. One such effort involves Kaiser Permanente and Goodwill Southern California. Their partnership began in 2009 when Kaiser Permanente was looking for a vendor to take their 20 tons/year of blue wrap, a nonwoven material made from polypropylene used for wrapping surgical instruments for sterilization.
