As a top finisher in BNY Mellon’s Social Innovation Challenge, PHRQL is expanding its nutrition education tool to food pantries in Pittsburgh to educate at-risk families on the importance of nutrition. If successful, PHRQL hopes to expand the program nationally.
June is National Cancer Survivor Month. The Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation’s Bridging Cancer Care™ initiative supports community-based resources and survivorship support programs expanding to underserved populations in the U.S., with a primary focus on southeastern states with the highest lung cancer incidence and mortality in the country. By collaborating with partners such as Lung Cancer Alliance, the Foundation is promoting much-needed support for lung cancer survivors and their families.
For at-risk young adults, having a mentor can be the difference between going on to college and dropping out of high school. A mentoring relationship with a caring adult can encourage young people to participate in after-school activities, be leaders in clubs and teams, volunteer in their communities or even go on to be a mentor themselves.
